Founded in 1931, LBS has over 80 years of expertise in supplying building products to both the construction industry and the general public.
LBS has grown over the years with 13 branches throughout South and West Wales and a delivery fleet of over 40 vehicles.
As LBS have expanded, so have its demands for IT. Its original system recorded sales, prepared statements and did little else. As LBS grew, the need for a totally integrated system became more apparent.
Mark Davies, Managing Director decided he needed to take action. Like many merchants, LBS didn't have the luxury of a full time IT Department. Their short list of potential suppliers was largely based on recommendation.
"We looked very carefully as we regard a company system as the second most important asset after staff. It has such a direct impact on any business in that it contributes to organisational efficiency and hence profitability."
Once LBS decided to order CounterAct, Border Merchant Systems arranged everything. The system was installed on time and against budget. Mark has been pleased with the results and the support his company has received.
"My colleagues and I looked at a number of systems and we felt that they all worked and would probably have done a good job, some were weaker on some issues than others but by and large they all probably have worked well. CounterAct however seemed to have the better balance, with areas that it was very strong and no particular weaknesses."
"There were many factors that finally led us to CounterAct. The system is fully integrated with Point-of-Sale, Quotations, Purchasing, Buying & Stock Control all fitting together seamlessly. The reporting and analysis, with the ability to drill down into detail in both the ledgers and trading programs are excellent."
"We have also found the system continues to develop with the BMS team receptive to good ideas. We get regular enhancements which work first time!"
